Here’s what you’ll need:
1. Dirty Makeup Brushes
2. Makeup Removing wipes
3. Makeup Brush Cleaner (I’m using the Sonia Kashuk one but plain soap or shampoo is fine!)
4. A hand towel and a small cup
Step 1: First run your brush under luke warm water. If you have double ended brushes like I do, clean only one side at a time!
Step 2: Spray your brush cleaner on the brush or apply the soap or shampoo (depending on what you have chosen to use :))
Step 3: Work the brush cleaner into the bristles by scrubbing the brush into your hand in circular motions, make sure to clean the inside of the brush because that’s where alot of makeup gets trapped! :P
Step 4: Now take a makeup removing wipe and use it to wipe all the makeup off your brush! I suggest laying the wipe flat on a counter and, using circular motions again, scrubbing the brush into the wipe.
Step 5: Repeat steps 1 and 2 then using a hand towel (or paper towel) gently dry off the brush by patting it against the towel.
Step 6: Now take a cup (a small one will do) and place the brush in it with the bristles facing down. Leave the brush here overnight or during the day while at work or school to get all the water out!
I love this method! :) It always makes my brushes so clean and I can really tell the difference especially in my concealer and foundation brushes!
Warning! I would probably not suggest this method if you have very delicate or expensive brushes! I use Bubbi Brushes (by Bubzbeauty) and not only are they amazingly good but also fairly inexpensive so replacing them isn’t a problem! If your brushes are more expensive I would suggest finding a more gentle method of cleaning them! :)
This is my first ever post to my beauty blog Ginger’s Closet! I’m very excited and hope you enjoyed my little tutorial! In the future I will continue to post makeup related things as well as Outfits of the Day and more! :)
